Why Do We Drink Alcohol?

You’ve probably asked yourself this question at one point or another. It’s a pretty simple question with a lot of different answers. Some people drink for the taste and the buzz, some drink for the social aspect, and others drink to forget about their problems. Whatever your reason for drinking, there are plenty of studies out there that might give you some insight into why you do it.

The most common reason people drink alcohol is because they like how it makes them feel. For example, did you know that most people experience a “buzz” after just one drink? This is because alcohol affects your brain by slowing down activity in certain areas of your brain (like those responsible for inhibiting behavior). While this may seem like a bad thing—like it would make you more likely to act impulsively—it actually has the opposite effect: it can reduce anxiety and stress.

Another reason that people drink is because they want to connect socially with other people. Alcohol has been used as an icebreaker since ancient times!
